It’s that time of year again. The holidays are drawing nearer and I don’t know about you, but I always have a few guys on my list that are incredibly hard to shop for, namely my husband and dad. I spend so much time thinking about and searching for the perfect gift, but it always seems like I can never find it. You know the type: a super handy, super busy, always caught up in a DIY house project kind of guy. He already has every tool he could possibly need–seriously, his collection looks like he could start his own hardware store. What do you get a guy like that? Well, this year I may have found the ultimate gift!
If your guy loves working on projects, especially restorations, you have to check out the restorer. This tool is a game changer and one I promise your man probably doesn’t have in his collection. I mean, this tool really does it all. It is amazingly versatile. I really can’t find one project you can’t use this on. You can use this on everything from reclaimed wood, rusted metals, upgrading trailers, live edge wood, paint removal, and really any kind of woodworking project you can think of!
My husband has been talking about doing updates around the home lately, but it’s just so expensive to have things done anymore, which is why I think this is the perfect gift. Our big projects that he wants to get done are repainting our kitchen cabinets, refinishing the original hardwood floors, and installing our custom trim. The restorer can help with all of these projects and cut our costs when it comes to hired help or rentals. I mean, who doesn’t love saving money right?
Paint Prep Made Easy
Our kitchen cabinets have so many layers of old paint on them, they need to be sanded off before we put a fresh coat on. The restorer can help get those old coats of paint off in a cinch. It’s so much faster than sanding it by hand and it’s small enough that it can reach some hard to reach spots. AND it collects dust as you sand, so you don’t have to constantly clean off sawdust and paint chips. It saves time on the work and cleanup, what’s not to love!
My husband, the oh so handy man, is custom making our new trim for the entire house. It involves a lot of measuring, and a lot of cutting, and a lot of sanding. While the restorer can’t help with the measuring or cutting, it absolutely can help with the sanding. Sometimes it seems like it takes forever for my husband to get things sanded just as he likes. A true perfectionist, everything has to be perfectly smooth and perfectly even–and it can be really hard to do that when you’re sanding by hand or using sanders that are too big and powerful for pieces that are so small and thin. The restorer is the perfect size for this. Its size allows you to easily and quickly gloss over large amounts of trim, but it’s not so powerful that it feels like overkill for the job.
Old Wood? No Problem
And the hardwood floors? They have most definitely seen better days. I don’t think the previous owners of our home ever intended on them seeing the light of day again. Lying hidden beneath dingy carpet, much to our dismay, was paint stained and scratched up wooden floors–which would have been just beautiful if they had been better taken care of. We want to restore them to their former glory. To do so, however, requires a lot of elbow grease. We need to sand off enough of the damages, re-stain the floors, and then give it a clear coat. But here’s the problem: the whole lower level of our house has hardwood floors. Correction, the whole lower level of our house has damaged hardwood floors. See, the problem areas are not isolated whatsoever to one small location, there’s problem areas in every room. We could rent a giant floor sander, but that’s spending money we don’t have first off. Then there’s finding the time to pick it up and return it. And all the hassle and energy it takes to unload and reload it into the truck. Who has the time? That’s where the restorer comes in handy. Although significantly smaller than a floor sander, it gets the job done nicely. Using the restorer, we can just go room to room and target those problem areas. This just turned what would have been a huge project (and cost!) into a much smaller and cheaper job to get done.
Just think, these are just a few examples of how my husband can use this tool. Think of all the other projects I’m sure he’ll be able to use this for. I’m confident that this is a gift he’ll love and use for years to come. This would be an invaluable asset to not only his tool collection, but to anyone’s tool arsenal. Even if you think you don’t have a use for it, you do. Your dad, husband, son, literally whoever you have in your life who’s super handy will absolutely love this gift. The only downside to the restorer is that it’s such a great gift, there’s almost no way you could possibly top it next year. Be sure to check out the restorer and order it just in time for the holidays!
