We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Kundel Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robert, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My goal was to raise funds to start a non-profit to help people using the proceeds generated by our product sales.
What should our readers know about your business?
We are a small family owned faith based business that has a patented power tool invention that is used for restoration of surfaces. Proceeds from the sale of every tool goes to starting a non-profit to help people. I have been working for our family owned business for over 36 years and have also been running the power tool business separately for over seven years without taking an income from it. It has not been easy working two jobs for the past seven years and not taking an income from the business. I work a lot of early mornings, late evenings and weekends to make things work. There are a lot of nights I spend away from my family working on customer tools that are sent in that need repaired. I repair them, clean them and ship them out all for no charge. I take personal care with each tool that comes back to me for repair. Many times I put all brand new parts on the tool no matter how neglected the tool has been treated and it gets returned nearly like new condition.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably take them to our local barbeque restaurant Cockeye’s and go to our family lake house located on the shores of Lake Erie.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Melissa. She has also worked for 7 long years helping to get these business running and it wasn’t until a few months ago that she finally started taking a very small income from all her hard work as our “accounting” office
